The project features a Meditation Room, Visitors' Room, Admin Office, and VIP Lounge. Inside the Statue, the hollow shell skin has multiple levels to allow access. There are two viewing galleries: 270 ft and 280 ft. A CFD study determined the number of vents and shafts for natural ventilation, as well as LED lighting, to reduce power consumption. The apex has a 25-ft water jet symbolizing the Ganga River originating from Shiva's jata (matted hair). A 25-ft high Nandi Statue (Lord Shiva's celestial bull) sits facing Shiva with reverence and love. Additionally, there is parking, a bridge, a water body, landscaping, an amphitheater, a food court, handicraft shops and an amusement park for children.
The hillock is constructed with 300-mm thick RCC walls, while the surface of the Statue is made using 200-mm of RCC walls. It was made to look like a snow-clad mountain on its exterior. Special single-use FRP molds were designed and created by the sculptor for the exterior profile and features, and custom-made plywood molds were used for its inner profile. The entire operation involved 2,650 MT of structural steel fabrication, 2,700 MT of reinforcement steel, and 8,500 Cum of ultra-high-performance self-compacting concrete. Initially, two tower cranes were provided, and they dropped to one once the hillock was built. At its peak, labor strength was 1,000 people.
The most difficult element to construct was the left leg which has a 60-ft cantilever from thigh to knee and rests on the other thigh - it had a 60 ft unsupported span - so it was temporarily supported over a scaffold frame until the concrete had been set properly. The right arm that rested on that left leg was also tricky; it had to be cast from the leg portion up and connected to the shoulder. Structural framing elements were carefully assembled using a tower crane before being welded together.
Once structural works concluded, metalizing began - the surface was cleaned off in preparation for sandblasting before being sprayed with 99.9% pure zinc with a metalizing machine to form a protective coating layer; this was then finished off with a copper coating (to give it an attractive natural aura from afar). This is one chapter of this amazing Statue; there are more in store when you come to visit!
